'Game of Thrones' star Gwendoline Christie says show 'squeezed every last drop' of her energy

Game of Thrones” star Gwendoline Christie is going to miss the HBO series, but she’s also happy to get some of her energy back.

“It was just a lot, a lot, a lot. It was a lot,” she told The Guardian of her role as warrior Brienne.

She agreed with co-star Kit Harington, who told the outlet that the intensity of the role and its schedule “seemed to be designed to break us … I remember everyone walking around on set towards the end going, ‘I’ve had enough now. I love this, it’s been the best thing in my life, I’ll miss it one day, but I’m done.'”

“I agree with Kit,” Christie, 40, exclaimed. “They squeezed the orange. Every last drop of juice out of that orange! And just a husk was left behind.”

At 6’3″ in flats, Christie was concerned that her character, Brienne of Tarth, wouldn’t resonate with audiences because they may not have been ready to see such a physically strong woman on their screens.

“No one was more surprised than me that people liked my character,” she confessed “I just assumed that, because she wasn’t a conventionally attractive woman, people wouldn’t get behind her. I’m overwhelmed that they did.”

Christie recently told Variety that she’s overwhelmed by the “Game of Thrones” fanbase.

“It’s really extraordinary, isn’t it? Because ‘Game of Thrones’ has come about at a time where the birth of the internet also really occurred with people using it regularly, having phones where they could refer to it with ease. And what the internet has done is provided everyone with an equal voice, and one element was that we heard what audiences want. And what they want are more female characters, and they want more complex female characters,” she said.

“And I think that this huge phenomenon that is Game of Thrones has illustrated that people want to see female characters, they’re interested in those stories,” she continued. “And it has provided some really exceptional female characters. I’m very proud to be a part of it.”

CNN’s April Ryan calls for Sarah Sanders to be fired

Fox News Flash top headlines for April 18

CNN political analyst April Ryan called for the firing of White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders on Thursday, claiming Sanders “lied” to the media following the release of the Mueller report.

In May 2017, following the turbulent firing of FBI Director James Comey, Sanders told reporters that “countless” FBI agents had lost confidence in Comey despite one reporter’s assertion that the “vast majority” of them supported his leadership. According to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office, Sanders told investigators her claim was a “slip of the tongue” and was “in the heat of the moment,” admitting that it was not founded on anything.

Ryan, who is also a White House reporter for the American Urban Radio Networks, blasted the press secretary on Thursday night for “lying” to the American people.

“Not only does she not have any credibility left, she lied,” Ryan told CNN anchor Erin Burnett. “She outright lied and the people, the American people can’t trust her. They can’t trust what’s said from the president’s mouthpiece, spokesperson, from the people’s house. Therefore, she should be let go. She should be fired. End of story. When there is a lack of credibility there, you have to start and start lopping the heads off. It’s ‘Fire Me Thursday’ or ‘Fire Me Good Friday,’ she needs to go.”

The CNN pundit suggested that since President Trump “won’t take the fall” that Sanders might instead.

“Sarah plays a dangerous game in that room… The game is dangerous because she is lying to the American public,” Ryan continued. “Then, on top of all that, she says the press is fake when she’s faking reports from the people’s house. She’s calling us fake? We’ve had colleagues who’ve had to move from their houses because of threats. I have to have security because of being called ‘fake’ and a ‘loser’ and all sorts of things from that White House. It’s time for her to go.”

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
